Licenses

We do no licensing of our own. dataseries.org reproduces data that the Swiss statistical institutions already publish openly. We add no licence, and we claim no rights over anything you download here.

The terms of the original publisher apply. Every dataset carries a license field, in the catalog and in its metadata, naming the institution whose conditions govern its reuse. Those conditions are theirs, and they are the ones that count.

Who publishes what

Four institutions produce everything in the catalog. Each sets its own conditions, and each can change them. Follow the link for the current text rather than relying on a summary, including ours.

Every dataset page also links straight back to the page the data was taken from, so you can go to the source for the exact series in front of you rather than to the institution's front door.

What dataseries is

dataseries is a non-commercial project. We collect openly published Swiss data, put it into one format, and make it easier to find and use. We do not sell it, we do not licence it, and we assert no rights in it. Whether your own use is permitted is a question for the publisher rather than for us, so for anything beyond ordinary reuse with attribution, ask them.

How to attribute

Name the original source, not dataseries. A simple credit line is enough, for example:

“via dataseries” is optional and only signals how you obtained the data; the required credit is to the producing institution. Where a publisher uses a named licence such as Creative Commons, name it as that licence requires.
