The currency-denomination cut of the same international investment position covered by auvekomq. Its value is the currency axis: it shows how much of Switzerland's foreign assets and liabilities are held in CHF, USD, EUR, other currencies and precious metals, which is what makes the IIP exposed to exchange-rate moves. Three dimensions cross currency by accounting entry by functional component, so you can ask e.g. "USD-denominated portfolio-investment liabilities" directly.
